Michael Huo

Dr Michael Huo is a Radiation Oncologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, and is part of the Gamma KnifeĀ® Centre of Queensland. He has a subspecialty interest in stereotactic radiosurgery. Having grown up in Brisbane, Michael completed his medical training at the University of Queensland in 2010. He attained a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in 2019. In 2018 he commenced a 12-month clinical fellowship at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Canada, where he focused on stereotactic radiosurgery and palliative radiotherapy. In 2019 he was appointed as the inaugural Gamma Knife Fellow at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, before being appointed as a Staff Specialist in 2020. Michael is actively involved in research, and is the principal investigator of a prospective study on pre-operative radiosurgery for brain metastases. He has published textbook chapters on the topic of brain metastases, as well as scientific manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented at national and international conferences, and serves as a reviewer for several journals. Michael is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society (ISRS) and the Leksell Gamma Knife Society (LGKS). He holds the position of Senior Lecturer for the University of Queensland. He is also an educator for the Queensland Radiation Oncology Training Network and an examiner for final year UQ medical students.
