People from rural areas have poorer survival and rural-urban discrepancies are worsening over time. Delays to diagnosis and delays to treatment are too common and people with cancer from rural areas have lower use of diagnostic and treatment services. This presentation reflects on the challenge of the delivery of equitable cancer care, the diversity of rural settings in Australia and our gaps in knowledge. The ECORRA (Equitable Cancer Outcomes across Rural and Remote Australia) program is presented and recommendations to optimise the delivery of radiation oncology across Australia are discussed.
